Despite many in Italy believing there is little chance of Juventus ever paying Southampton the €49.5m included in the loan for Carlos Alcaraz to make it a permanent transfer, a lot will still come down to the midfielder himself.

That’s what Bianconera News allude to on Tuesday, who point out that the injuries suffered by Adrien Rabiot and Weston McKennie could be the perfect opportunity for the Saints loanee to show what he can really do.

Since his arrival from Southampton, the 21-year-old has only been used three times, with the first two appearances coming from the bench before being handed a start against Frosinone.

The midfielder may not have found the back of the net or provided an assist in the 3-2 win, but he came really close to getting the latter if it weren’t for Federico Chiesa missing the opportunity created.

The website are seemingly pleased with the flashes of ability the Southampton loanee has shown to date, and they add it will be up to him to ‘exploit the injuries’ to the two starters in order to ‘earn his redemption’.

He is ‘still a long way’ from convincing Juventus to open their wallet for him, and he will have to ‘make the most of every opportunity’, starting with Sunday’s very important clash against Napoli away from home in which he is expected to start.
