PSV Eindhoven know it will be “complicated” to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton this summer as there is English interest in his signature also.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says the defender’s homegrown status makes him attractive to clubs in the Premier League.
Branthwaite has been on loan with the Dutch side since the summer after Everton elected to let him go to the Eredivisie to get regular game time and develop his game.
He initially struggled for playing time under Ruud van Nistelrooy but has been a regular since the World Cup break, forming a solid partnership with André Ramalho and even chipping in with goals.
That has led to increased attention on him and speculation about his future, with PSV making it clear that they would like to sign him on a permanent basis if possible.
Elfrink confirms that is the case, but says that PSV know it won’t be an easy task as there are English sides also looking to make moves.
“The centre André Ramalho and Jarrad Branthwaite will remain at PSV for now,” PSV Fans report him saying.
“I think Armando Obispo has lost his place in the starting line-up. PSV hopes to acquire Branthwaite from Everton, but there are more clubs interested.
“So that does complicate a transfer. He is interesting for English clubs because he is young and home-grown.”
