On Monday, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola stated that Palmeiras could end up accepting a €25m offer from Arsenal for Danilo if the Gunners came forward again.
The midfielder was a late summer target for the Emirates side, but the Brazilian side, who were in the middle of their season, decided to keep hold of their star until the winter.
With the campaign now over in Brazil, however, and the player having a rather poorer second half, the belief is that if Arsenal come knocking with the same amount, talks would take place.
While this isn’t something the player is absolutely desperate for, he does feel like he could now play in Europe, telling as much to UOL Esporte in his home country.
When discussing the next step in his career, the outlet mention the past interest from Arsenal, who are ‘often cited as a possible destination’ for the midfielder.
The prospect of that doesn’t worry him in the slightest: “I see myself mature enough to be able to play in any competition in the world, I’m ready. Palmeiras helped me a lot, from the off, with [director] João Paulo [Sampaio]. And I kept my mentality strong with the arrival of Abel.
“I prefer not to get involved with these transfer issues. I told my agent to only talk to me if it’s the right thing. Then we sit down and talk to Palmeiras and decide what’s best for everyone.”
Starting with the Palmeiras first-team from 2020 onwards, the 21-year-old has since made 141 appearances for the club, during which he has scored 12 goals and provided his teammates with nine assists.
