Genk midfielder Bryan Heynen has admitted he is open to a transfer this summer amid reports of interest from Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who have an interview with the 26-year-old today and discuss the possibility of a departure from Belgium.
Heynen has spent his entire career thus far with Genk, working his way up their youth ranks before making it to the first team in 2015.
He’s since made 259 appearances for the club, establishing himself as a key player and was again last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions, bagging 11 goals and seven assists.
Those are impressive numbers for a midfielder, and he’s subsequently been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with Belgium a league often plundered by clubs around Europe.
HLN report that both Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are clubs that ‘have Heynen on a list somewhere’, although they, as well as Italian side Fiorentina, have not taken ‘concrete’ steps as yet.
That’s something the player has backed up, insisting that any potential transfer will be dealt with by his agent.
“It concerns my manager. If something gets serious, I’ll hear about it,” he said on the reported interest from Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest.
“I can only tell you what I have always told you: I am open to a transfer if it benefits me and the club. I feel good here. If nothing happens, then it’s just fine for me.
“At the same time, you never know what will happen. I do like Italy, yes.”
