Leicester City were linked with a move for Wolfsburg’s Patrick Wimmer in the last few days of the January transfer window.
The move didn’t go through and the links with a move to the King Power were not new, as the Foxes were also a potential suitor in the summer.
The 23-year-old winger has spoken to Salzburger Nachrichten about his future and indicated that he would be open to a move to Leicester City, even if his dream is to play for Bayern Munich.
He said: “I am ready for the next step. A transfer to a big European club would be a dream. But that is a long way off. First, my performance in Wolfsburg has to be right and then we’ll see.”
Further, the Austrian said: “Bayern Munich would be the dream scenario. It would be a world club that is very close to my adopted home of Salzburg. But basically I’m open to anything.”
The newspaper also mention in their report that Leicester City are indeed an interested party, but there is also interest from Juventus and AC Milan.
Considering the competition that the Foxes are up against, staying in the Premier League would be needed to land Wimmer.
Wimmer has one goal and four assists this season and he scored and assisted in his last outing against Holstein Kiel. He would surely be a handy signing for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, but beating the competition will be difficult.
