Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison has spoken to the international media ahead of Brazil’s debut at the World Cup.
With the forward having an injury scare last month, where he even thought he could miss the tournament, there were many questions about his physical situation for this first game in Qatar.
Richarlison claims he’s ready for Brazil’s debut, saying his last game for Tottenham was already a sign that he’d be recovered for the World Cup.
“For me, the World Cup has already begun. I had these ten days to recover well. I was back at Tottenham, played in the starting line-up and had a really big scare, practically a month ago. Now the time has come, the time to be happy, have fun, and I’m here for that, to help my teammates and do my best for the national team to come out victorious in every game,” said Richarlison (via Globo Esporte).
“I’m fine. I’m not 100%, I’m 200%. I think we have everything to start the World Cup very well.”
Also asked about Karim Benzema, the striker explains that when he was injured he had the fear of missing the World Cup, and wished the French star the best.
“The question of Benzema, we are sad for him. I went through that scare, I know how difficult it is to be left out of a World Cup. I believe he is very sad at the moment, it was his dream to compete in the World Cup. I think it’s about wishing him and his family strength.”
Brazil make their 2022 World Cup debut against Serbia on Thursday. The local media is still to get the line-up Tite will use for that match, but so far it’s believed that Richarlison will be their number nine.
Even though the striker only scored twice since joining Tottenham in the summer, he has seven goals in Brazil’s last six games.
