Dejan Kulusevski has pretty good reasons to be proud of the year he just had.
Besides making his move to Tottenham Hotspur and quickly adapting to the Premier League, the winger was also heraled in his home country as ‘Forward of the Year’.
That’s an award given by Aftonbladet, and Kulusevski has talked about the joy of winning the prize.
“I am so happy and proud to have won this award as forward of the year,” Kulusevski told Aftonbladet.
“First of all, I want to thank my family, they have given me everything and the chance to succeed. Then I also want to thank my friends, teammates and coaches, both Antonio Conte at the club team and Janne at the national team.”
Kulusevski spoke specifically about his move to Tottenham, insisting he’s been having a good time in English football.
“The year I had in the Premier League has been fantastic. I’m so happy and lucky to be at Tottenham and I’m really looking forward to what we can achieve in the future, both in the club team and the national team.”
Kulusevski initially joined Tottenham on a one-year loan spell from Juventus, but that transfer is set to be made permanent.
Since making the move to London in January, the Swedish player has had 33 appearances, with six goals and 13 assists so far. This season, he struggled a little with a thigh injury, having missed several matches, but is already back in action and was a starter for Antonio Conte’s side in the Boxing Day fixture against Brentford.
