Brighton and Hove Albion youngster Facundo Buonanotte has insisted he will speak to the club if he needs to so he can help Argentina’s youth side qualify for next year’s Olympics.
The forward has been speaking to DSports, relayed by El Grafico, regarding various topics and potentially representing his country again later this year.
The Brighton youngster has already made his debut for the Argentine senior side with a 74-minute appearance against Indonesia earlier this year.
He’s very much one for the future, though, as he’s not appeared for them since and is still only 18-years-old.
That means he’s very much in the Albiceleste’s eyeline for the Olympics this summer, when Javier Mascherano will take his under-20 side to compete in Paris.
They first have to seal their spot in the competition by going through South American qualifying in Venezuela from January 20th to February 11th, which would mean he’d be missing for Brighton during a busy part of the campaign.
That’s something they may be reluctant to do, but Buonanotte is willing to fight to get what he wants.
“I don’t know if there are chances,” he said.
“But for me it is a pleasure and a pride to wear the National Team shirt, be it the senior team or the Under 23 team. If they call me up and I have to talk to the club, I’m going to do it because it’s a source of pride.”
