Thomas Frank initially joined Brenftrod as assistant manager in 2016 and was promoted to their first team manager in October 2018.
The 49-year-old has been in charge since then and helped the Bees achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2021. They finished 13th last season and are currently ninth in the table, seven points behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur, with two games in hand.
Brentford are in contention to qualify for European competition next season and Frank’s work there has not gone unnoticed.
Last December, the Dane insisted he will not retire at Brentford and has big dreams for his future. He made this claim days after signing a contract until 2027 with the London club.
Discovery in Denmark have interviewed the Premier League manager and again asked him about his future plans.
“That’s a good question. I have always felt that you cannot plan your career in this world. I always thought it might be nice to try this or that. So, not too far ahead. 20 years ago, I did not dream of becoming a Premier League coach,” he said, as quoted by Tipsbladet.
Even though Frank has insisted he’s happy with his current employer, he hasn’t closed the door to joining another Premier League side and explained his conditions to leave Brentford.
“It is clear that when we come over here, I think: ‘Okay, it could be nice to try coaching the Premier League’. It has happened, and now I am here. And then I thought at one point: ‘Hmm, if you could get another Premier League job maybe’,” Frank explained.
“But on the other hand, I’m like: ‘Will it make me happier?’ I’m not sure, because this is a super cool place with lots of challenges yet. So, I’m a little doubtful about that. I want to say that if I have to leave here, it has to be a unique opportunity.”
