The last few days have probably been some of the best of his career for Barcelona’s Raphinha.
The ex-Leeds United star scored a hat-trick against Bayern Munich and then saw his side beat Real Madrid in the El Clasico, as Barcelona picked up two huge results in a row.
Things haven’t always looked bright for the Brazilian since he has left Leeds United, but he wouldn’t be deterred, got his head down, and is now enjoying the benefits.
He’s spoken to YouTube channel ‘Losimplenovale’ about his situation and how the transfer to the Catalan giants came through.
The winger revealed that he always wanted to join Barca and was very clear about his choice.
“They wanted to buy me, but there was no fair play (room in budget). But there was the option. While there were options, my priority was Barça. I was very clear with all the clubs that summer.”
He also opened up about a conversation he had with Deco before his arrival at the Camp Nou.
“I always told Deco that Barça was a priority, perhaps because of seeing the Brazilians succeed there I had a special affection for them. Deco told me that Barça was interested when I was going to leave Leeds United.”
The 27-year-old has contributed 14 goals so far this season and he looks on track to have the best individual campaign of his career.
