Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel over the past few months.

Earlier this year, we covered claims from Germany that BVB are expecting an offer for the 27-year-old. It was also stated they can’t stop him from joining the Blues this summer.

On April 28th, Bild reported Chelsea are serious about the stopper and last month, the same outlet stated he could leave the Bundesliga club.

A fresh report from Bild have an interview during which Kobel explains why he ‘cancelled Chelsea’.

Bild point to their update from May 27th, where they reported the Switzerland international held talks with the west London club. They also stated the goalkeeper informed Borussia Dortmund that he wants to continue with them despite Chelsea’s approach.

Bild have now caught up with Kobel to ask what convinced him to stay at the Signal Iduna Park.

“Everyone knows that I feel extremely comfortable in Dortmund. I love the fans, the stadium, the club, and the atmosphere. Everyone knows that and sees it when I’m on the pitch. I really appreciate that,” he said.

The German newspaper asked whether he’s given up on his dream of playing in the Premier League.

Responding to that, Kobel explained: “I can’t remember ever saying that this was my dream.”

The stopper kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 67 goals from 47 games this season.
