Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelsea are all in the picture to sign Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel in the summer window.
That’s according to Tuesday’s edition of Bild, who cover Newcastle, Chelsea and Red Devils interest in the 27-year-old.
They state Eddie Howe’s side and the Blues have been discussed as potential options and Manchester United have been added to the list.
The Switzerland international kept 12 clean sheets and conceded 67 goals from 47 games this season and played a role in helping BVB qualify for the Champions League.
His contract is until 2028, and Bild asked the stopper whether he’ll be at the Bundesliga club next season.
“I don’t comment on such things. It was important to me that we were in the Champions League, because this club simply belongs in the Champions League,” he said.
“It’s been four incredible years here. The Champions League final, almost winning the championship, and this year it’s been a completely different season. It was definitely exciting, and it never got boring…”
The newspaper believe that ‘sounds like a farewell’, and Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United are ‘in the poker game’ to sign him. If the trio are keen on Kobel, they have to offer around €60-70m.
Bild only mention the Premier League clubs are in the ‘poker game’ without providing any further details. There are other options for them, including Espanyol’s Joan García, who is younger and cheaper than the Swiss stopper.
The German media love linking Borussia Dortmund players with half the Premier League.
