FC Utrecht midfielder Zidane Iqbal has insisted he is not thinking about a return to Manchester United and is leaving his future up to God.

Utrecht Fans cover comments from the midfielder today made in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad.

The 23-year-old has been with the Dutch club since July 2023 after joining from Manchester United in a €1m deal.

He had previously been with Manchester United for the entirety of his career before then, coming through their youth set up before playing with the U18s, U21s and U23s before managing one solitary, one minute appearance for Manchester United’s first team in December 2021. That came in the 1-1 draw with Young Boys in the Champions League.

He had been a potential homegrown prospect for the future but was instead moved on to the Netherlands in a low-cost operation, with United seemingly deciding his future did not lie at Old Trafford.

He’s yet to fully establish himself at Utrecht or give his young career the big kickstart that he might have been hoping for in the Netherlands.

And, when asked about a potential return to Manchester United, he insisted that such matters he leaves in God’s hands.

“To be honest: I don’t look that far,” he said.

“I’m not concerned with the future; I leave that to God. I live in the now, take each day as it comes and enjoy, especially after that difficult first year, the fact that I can play football for FC Utrecht. Hopefully we will qualify for European football this season.”
