Rosario Central winger Ignacio Malcorra has admitted he and everyone else are hoping that Tottenham striker Alejo Veliz will be allowed to move back to the club this summer.

Olé cover comments from him today as reports swirl about Veliz’s future and a potential return to his former club.

Rosario are believed to be keen to bring the 21-year-old back to the club after something of a miserable spell in Europe with Tottenham.

They’ve proposed a loan deal and Veliz is believed to be keen on the switch after failing to impress on loan at either Sevilla or Espanyol. The move is part of a big summer project from Rosario, who have already secured Angel di Maria’s return. They’re using that as a draw to bring in other players, such as the Tottenham man.

The big issue is currently Tottenham, who need convincing to let the striker return to his homeland, even on loan. They would prefer to see him stay in Europe to continue his development there.

It means Rosario have work to do to get a deal done and Malcorra admits they’re all hoping that things go their way.

“We talked with the kids about Alejo having a chance to come. I hope he can play here; he’s a great striker and he’ll serve the team well,” he said.
