Brighton and Hove Albion striker Deniz Undav has once again insisted he wants to remain at VfB Stuttgart next season.
The striker has been speaking to assembled journalists at a Germany press conference today, with his comments covered by Florian Plettenberg.
Undav has spent the season on loan with Stuttgart and proven to be a massive success, bagging 18 goals and ten assists in 30 games in the Bundesliga this season.
That’s seen him earn plenty of attention, praise and a place in the Germany squad, with it extremely likely he is a part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for Euro 2024 this summer.
Stuttgart are keen to keep him on a permanent basis from Brighton and have an option to make that happen but have been reluctant to pay the fee required and making that clear for several months.
It’s been suggested that they would prefer to negotiate that down with Brighton, although the Seagulls have seemingly shown no willingness to do so up to this point.
In the meantime, Undav has been making his stance clear for some time, expressing his delight at life with Stuttgart and his desire to move from Brighton permanently, a stance he has reiterated today.
“I hope so. The discussions are ongoing,” he said when asked if he’d be staying with the German side.
“We have to see what happens. I have expressed my desire. I hope I can stay with VfB Stuttgart. That’s my goal. I want to have a strong season with Stuttgart next season.”
