Jürgen Klopp will have to do without the services of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for most of this season after the duo suffered serious injuries in the last two months.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Liverpool continue to be linked with defenders for the winter market, and Ajax’s Perr Schuurs is one of the players reported to be wanted by the Reds.
On November 26th, we covered claims made by Corriere dello Sport explaining the English champions ‘insist’ on the signing and have formulated an offer of around €30m for the Netherlands international.
Klopp and Liverpool had an opportunity to observe the 21-year-old up close when they faced Ajax twice in the Champions League this season.
The latest was on Tuesday when the Merseyside club sealed a 1-0 win over the Dutch side and Schuurs played the full 90 minutes for Ajax. The player is of the belief he had a good game at Anfield.
“It was good, especially in the first half. Of course, I get a yellow card. Then it becomes a bit more wait-and-see, that is a factor in your head. Personally, I can look back on a good game, but I am disappointed that we did not get more.”
When further asked about the recent speculation linking him to Liverpool, Schuurs acknowledged it but looked to calm things down.
“I hear and read it [Liverpool rumours] too. It’s my first season as a basic player at Ajax. I want to play here for a few more seasons and win prizes. I’m not really working on that yet,” he explained.
