Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino has admitted he is now feeling much more integrated into the squad, but is still in a learning moment.

Mundo Deportivo cover comments from the midfielder today made to DAZN Spain in which he discusses his current run of form for the Gunners and his improvement since the summer.

He joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window in a €32m deal from Real Sociedad but endured a frustrating few months initially as a shoulder injury in his first training session saw him spend a spell on the sidelines.

He appeared to be struggling to adapt after that point as Arsenal pushed for the Premier League title and competed in the Champions League.

An injury to Kai Havertz earlier this year has worked in his favour, though, seeing Merino pushed to a temporary striker role despite that not being his preferred position.

It’s proven to be a masterstroke from Mikel Arteta as he’s and bagged four goals in seven league games since the beginning of February and scored against PSV and Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout stages.

He’s very much on the crest of a wave and admits he now feels more integrated into the Arsenal set up, even if there is more to come from him.

“I feel much more integrated, not only with the city and with the language, but with my companions,” he said.

“I understand the pace that takes in this city and this club. I think I have room for growth, I’m in a learning moment, and I’m glad to find myself getting better and better.”
