Earlier this week there were claims in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce officials had travelled to London to negotiate signing Jefferson Lerma from Crystal Palace.
The claims were quite widespread and strong, and appear to have made it back to the player himself. He, though, hasn’t got any idea about any attempt and it would appear his agent is in the same situation.
Lerma attended a promotional event in Guatapé on Friday, and whilst he was there a local journalist, Colleen Jaimes, managed to ask the Crystal Palace player some questions about all the media reports.
The 29-year-old was happy to answer and is quoted by Gol Caracol as saying: “The only thing I know for sure is that I have a contract with Crystal Palace for three more years. Besides, there are already rumours in the press about Fenerbahce, and I even asked my agent if it was true and he totally denied everything.”
Fenerbahce may be off the cards, but the midfielder doesn’t appear to be ruling out a summer transfer entirely.
Lerma played 31 matches for Crystal Palace last season. he then went to the Copa America with Colombia, taking part in five out of six games, and losing to Argentina in the final.
