Chelsea target Viktor Gyokeres is calmly dodging questions about an exit from Sporting CP in the summer.

Following the Lions’ 2-1 win against Benfica in a cup match last night, the striker was asked about a potential move, and instead claimed he’s fully focused on his season with Portugal.

Quoted by O Jogo, who mention Chelsea as one of the clubs who want Gyokeres, the player even admitted that he could stay at Sporting for one more year.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen at the end of the season, but I’m not thinking about that at the moment, we’ve got a lot of important games coming up,” said Gyokeres. “It’s very exciting to have these possibilities”.

“To stay another year? Yes, I really like it here. I think I’ll continue to play a lot, as I have since I’ve been here, but as I said, this is football and anything can happen. That’s not what I’m thinking about”

Earlier this week, the Portuguese media revealed that Chelsea would have a scout in the match between Sporting and Benfica, and today, newspaper Record shows up to confirm that an emissary from the Stamford Bridge side was at the Alvalade stadium watching the game.

Gyokeres was a constant threat for the Eagles last night, even scoring Sporting’s second goal despite missing a few chances.

The striker now has 31 goals and 11 assists in 34 appearances in his first season with the Lions, and perhaps that was a good match for Chelsea to see how he does in an important game against a local rival.
