Last week, the Premier League released a statement confirming the top flight club competition in England will not return at least until April 30th following the Coronavirus outbreak.
The ongoing pandemic has even stopped players from training at their club’s facilities and has forced them to train individually at home. A handful of players have used time on their hands to interact with fans via social networking platforms.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Raúl Jiménez took to Facebook to provide an update on his day-to-day activities and also discussed various other topics with fans. Excelsior have relayed the comments made by the Mexican forward.
He first arrived in Europe when Atlético Madrid signed him from Mexican side, Club América in 2014. Since then, he has been at Benfica and with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
“I have many memories of America. From the friends of Fuerzas Básicas, the debut, my first goal, my last goal.
“There is a curiosity in my last goal, my first goal was against Puebla, the second Xolos and the third with Santos. My penultimate goal was against Santos, then against Xolos and the last against Puebla.”
Jiménez has been a standout player for Wolves this season, scoring 22 goals and managing 10 assists in all competitions. Before football across Europe was suspended, they were in contention to finish in top four and also in the race to win the Europa League.
Jiménez talked about his desire to play in the Champions League, but stressed a lack of it won’t be the reason for him to leave Wolves.
“I have a contract until 2023 and it’s not like I have to qualify for the Champions League to stay [with Wolves],” the attacker explained.
“We have done important things, we qualified for the Europa League and now we are fighting for a place in the Champions League, going to the Champions League is an extra that fills you to keep thinking for important things.”
