Over the past few days, several claims from the UK and Norway have stated Aston Villa are favourite to sign Rosenborg BK’s Sverre Nypan in the summer window.

Three days ago, we covered claims from Norway that Aston Villa are working to reach an agreement with the player and his club.

On Thursday, the Aston Villa target’s father, Arne Nypan, told Nidaros that he’s working on his son’s transfer. They make it clear that this interview took place before the Villans showed concrete interest.

Nidaros have also contacted the 18-year-old to find out his views on the latest claims of the Premier League club’s firm desire to secure his services.

The newspaper met the Norway U21 international after Thursday’s training and asked him about the Aston Villa links.

He said: “I can’t say anything about it.”

Earlier claims stated he held talks with Unai Emery and Aston Villa director Monchi. When asked about this, Nypan explained: “Nothing is clear, so there is nothing to comment on.”

The youngster has been linked with a move away from Rosenborg for several months. At the start of this year, the player stated he hadn’t made a choice on his next destination.

Nidaros now claims the Norwegian hesitates when asked what he wants.

“Well. It’s a bit difficult to answer, he says. I know more than I did then [before the start of the season]. But there’s not much to say yet,” he added.

According to the newspaper, this is because Aston Villa haven’t yet started negotiations to sign Nypan.
