While it has yet to be fully confirmed by Manchester United, the Premier League club are expected to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley.
The Dutch striker had been loaned out to Besiktas in the summer, but the possibility of playing for the Old Trafford side has caused him to push for this deal, with the Red Devils paying a fee to secure his services until the end of the season.
He will provide something different for Erik ten Hag, giving Manchester United a change of plan if needed in certain games.
The forward showed exactly how much impact he can have with the Netherlands in the World Cup against Argentina, and Red Devils icon Ruud Van Nistelrooy, now manager at PSV, backed the transfer to be a success.
Speaking in a press conference, relayed by Voetbal International, he said: “I think Wout has so much character and qualities that he will stand out there. I experienced him at the national team. He’s just a champion of a guy, with an incredibly competitive character. We also saw that at the World Cup.
“Wout is ready for such a step, and he will make his contribution there. I am 100% convinced of that. He has the qualities to make an impact at United.”
The 30-year-old had become a fan favourite in Turkey and scored eight goals and picked up four assists in 16 Süper Lig games.
He had previously struggled at Burnley, his only taste of English football before Manchester United, finding the back of the net just twice in 20 appearances.
