Hull City are set to pay €3.25m, plus a potential €500,000 In bonuses, to sign Eliot Matazo from AS Monaco this month.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Hull and Monaco have reached a final agreement for the 22-year-old midfielder.
Hull City have moved for the midfielder over the past few days, opening talks with Monaco before progressing on a deal.
A report yesterday stated that they had reached an agreement with Monaco on the transfer. That stated the deal would be worth €2-2.5m. That was followed by a claim Matazo had passed his medical.
Tavolieri now reports that the price agreed between the two clubs is actually €3.25m. That can increased by €500,000 if a certain bonus is achieved. He does not make it clear what this bonus is linked to. We would assume it is performance based as these things usually are.
Either way, it appears Hull are paying more than initially reported for the defensive midfielder. The deal is now very much in the final stages, with the final agreement between the two clubs pushing things along.
The move to Hull City will be Matazo’s second move outside of France, having come through Monaco’s youth ranks before a loan spell at Royal Antwerp in the second half of last season.
