Napoli continue to work on a deal for Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, but have now been given the chance to sign Chelsea‘s Marc Guiu.
Earlier this week, Sport Witness covered two players are on the Italian giants’ shortlist. One of those was Amine Gouiri, but a deal was being complicated by Tottenham’s interest in the Algerian.
Subsequently they will now target either the Arsenal or Chelsea forwards as further developments emerge.
Lang’s sale key
Today’s Corriere dello Sport report deals with the two London clubs could be unlocked by a sale. This could happen with the sale of Noa Lang, with Galatasaray close to re-signing the Dutchman.
Napoli are hopeful this opens up their chance to sign a No.9 which Max Allegri desperately wants.
The newspaper note Jesus is top of Napoli’s shortlist. He is valued at less than €20m and remains an option.
Chelsea’s Guiu will a bit more expensive than the Brazilian. He is valued at over €25m by Xabi Alonso’s side but the idea of making a capital gain from his future sale is appealing to Napoli.
Sportmediaset add more to the scenario. The outlet believe there is a preliminary agreement between Arsenal and Allegri’s side for Jesus. But it is the player who hasn’t opened up to the deal due to salary reasons.
As a result, the idea of signing the Spanish striker is gaining momentum and Napoli could make an offer for Guiu in the ‘next few hours’.
Our take: Time running out
Everything Napoli do now in this window depends on outgoings. It remains to be seen if Gala offer them a permanent deal for Lang. That could be important, especially if they want to approach Chelsea with a suitable offer.
As far as the Arsenal striker is concerned, a deal will be problematic from a financial sense. Since Jesus is 29, there is little chance for a future capital gain and his injury issues may also be a concern.
