Hull City and Reading are eyeing up a move for West Bromwich Albion’s Semi Ajayi in the summer window, according to Africa Foot.
The 31-year-old has less than three months left on his contract and his future could be away from West Brom.
Hull City and Reading are in contention to sign the West Brom player for free and the two clubs have already held talks.
The Nigeria international, who started at Charlton Athletic’s academy, has spent his entire playing career in the UK. He had spells at Arsenal, Cardiff City and Rotherham United, and the latter sold him to the Baggies in 2019.
Ajayi has an opportunity of extending his stay in the UK by either joining the Tigers or the League One club in the upcoming window. West Brom haven’t offered an extension just yet, and the centre-back is expected to leave after this season.
The defender is managed by Wasserman and Larry Oban, a representative of the agency, had a chat with Africa Foot. He confirmed Hull City and Reading approaches for the player who can leave The Hawthorns for free.
“He [Ajayi] will definitely leave West Brom, as they haven’t shown any serious intention of renewing his contract. He’s happy there, but he’ll leave if they don’t make an offer,” he said.
“He’s already in talks with Reading and Hull, who admire his versatility and experience. An assessment will take place in the coming weeks, but he’ll be there somewhere next season.”
