Leeds United suffered a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Sunday and the defeat has left them in 17th spot, level on points with 18th placed Everton with a game in hand.
The poor run convinced the Whites to sack Jesse Marsch on February 6th. They have already started the process of finding his successor and Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is on the list of targets identified by Leeds.
That’s at least what Voetbal International journalist Martijn Krabbendam, who covers the Dutch club, states. He made this claim during VI’s podcast and the comments are relayed by Fr12.nl.
”At Leeds United, he seems to be on a list. Nice club, big club. He would fit there too,” the journalist said.
Another Dutch journalist, Michel van Egmond, also gave his take on what could happen at the Eredivisie side if Slot were to leave them for Leeds.
“Feyenoord are still developing. The project is less than 10% underway. If he goes away and that day comes, then it should not collapse like a house of cards. Slot should not take the secret formula with him,” Van Egmond explains.
Krabbendam is of the belief Slot would not be the only one to walk through the exit door, if he decides to leave Feyenoord.
“Sipke Hulshoff [Feyenoord assistant manager] will also come along then. Only John de Wolf will then remain seated. It is very important that De Wolf writes down everything he sees now. Keep track of everything!” Krabbendam stressed.
According to Fr12.nl, Slot can leave Feyenoord if a club activates his release clause. This has been confirmed by Feyenoord general manager Dennis te Kloese and he insists it is valid only for next summer.
