Feyenoord star Igor Paixão should target clubs like Tottenham this summer if he is to leave the Dutch side in the coming months.
That’s according to former Feyenoord star Eljero Elia, whose comments on the forward have been relayed by 1908.nl.
Paixão has been in superb form for the Dutch side this season, with 11 goals and 15 assists in 38 games in all competitions so far.
He was particularly impressive in their run in the Champions League, with several standout performances and two goals and four assists in 11 games very much putting him on the radar.
It’s been a continuation of a steady rise for the 24-year-old since he joined the Dutch side in a €4.5m deal from Brazilian side Coritiba FC in August 2022, with 32 goals and 25 assists in 120 games to date.
This summer appears to be a key one for him, with numerous reports already that several sides are keeping an eye on him and considering a big money move.
Tottenham are one of them, with a report Iast month stating that they could provide competition to sides in Serie A who were also eyeing up the Feyenoord star.
Elia believes Tottenham and other such clubs would be ideal for the 24-year-old if he is going to make a move this summer.
“If they’re smart, they’ll let him go,” he said.
“They can now ask the top price. This is his third season, right? AC Milan also signed up for Santiago Giménez because of his goals in Europe. That will also happen with Paixão.
“But he has really grown this season. More consistent, deadly shot, always threatening and his teammates are increasingly able to find him.
“Clubs just below the European top, who can surprise,” he added when asked what sides should be looking at him.
“Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli, those kinds of teams. He can really be a surprise there. He shouldn’t aim too high, otherwise he might disappear from the scene.”
