Leeds United are very busy improving their squad this summer, and RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra has been one of the players identified. The Whites, who need to improve ahead of their Premier League return, have already taken steps to sign him.
A week ago, we covered claims from France which stated Leeds United had tabled a €26m offer for the midfielder. Everton are also said to have shown interest in him.
A day later, L’Equipe reported the Toffees aren’t making any advances and Leeds are the only club to have made a concrete move for the 21-year-old. They also stated the Ligue 1 club are assessing the bid made by Daniel Farke’s side.
The Senegal international has a contract lasting until 2028 but can leave the club this summer. That’s according to Strasbourg president Marc Keller, and he mentioned this during a chat with RMC Sport‘s After Foot.
RMC Sport make no mention of Leeds United’s offer but ask the president about the youngster. Keller explained Strasbourg are ready to sanction Diarra’s sale if the Whites or any other club were to fulfil their conditions.
“There’s one player who should leave, based on a promise I made to him two years ago, and that’s our captain Habib Diarra,” he said.
“When he extended his contract, we told him he was extending it, but that he wouldn’t leave until June 2025. So, if we get an attractive offer for him and for us, he could leave.”
This should encourage Leeds United in their pursuit of Diarra.
