Leeds United have become the latest English club to show interest in RC Strasbourg’s Habib Diarra.

That’s according to L’Equipe, and they cover the steps taken by Leeds to try and sign the 21-year-old this summer.

Diarra operated both in the middle of the pitch and as an attacking midfielder, managing four goals and five assists from 33 games this season.

His performances, profile and potential have caught the attention of several clubs. Daniel Farke’s side have made advances by sending a €26m offer to the Ligue 1 club in the ‘last few hours’.

The Whites have secured promotion to the Premier League and want to add the midfielder to their squad next season. The French club didn’t seem to have responded to Leeds’ offer yet.

L’Equipe state the Strasbourg directors are waiting to see if there’ll be any movements in the coming days. They point out clubs from England and Germany are in constant contact to acquire Diarra’s services, without mentioning their details.

On May 16th, Wiw Sport reported Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion are both actively working to sign the ten-time Senegal international. Four days later, Ouest-France stated Aston Villa are to launch an offensive for him.

Leeds would be trying to get ahead of the Premier League clubs in the race for Diarra.
