With Antonio Conte taking charge of Napoli, the club are ending involved in some new transfer rumours.

Today, newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport writes about their interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who’s been heavily linked to Italian clubs in the past few months.

As well as being someone Conte already worked with at Spurs, it’s said the Dane is someone of ‘great quality and temperament’ who could add a lot to Napoli’s squad next season.

The story claims it wouldn’t be very difficult to sign Højbjerg from Tottenham. Especially because his contract with the Premier League club expires next year, making him an affordable signing.

The biggest issue would be his salary, as the Serie A side are keeping the wage bill ‘under control’, so he’d have to agree with a reasonable offer.

Højbjerg, who made 39 appearances for Tottenham last season, had been said to be a target for Juventus, and may now find a very interesting option in Napoli, especially in case he’s keen on working under Conte once again.

Napoli may be at the preferable option for the player, especially if he’s sure the manager will use him.
