Over the past few weeks, we have seen a number of articles written surrounding the future of Ansu Fati, who hasn’t managed to live up to his promise of late.
Arsenal have been one of the clubs actively pushed by the Spanish media as one of the interested parties, with them going as far as saying the Gunners had reached out and called the forward’s agent.
This was then followed up by the claim he wasn’t interested in hearing what the Emirates club had to say, as he was focused on Barcelona, even though his patience was reportedly running thin.
Well, Fati addressed his future directly on Monday, speaking at an event in Barcelona, and made it clear that he doesn’t see his future at Arsenal, or anywhere else, for that matter.
He was, of course, never going to actively say he wants to leave in such surroundings, but the player’s words left no doubt in mind as to where his mind is at currently.
He said, relayed by Sport: “I have a contract until 2027 and hopefully I can spend even more years here. I want to spend many years at Barça. Yesterday, I left the pitch angry because sometimes I don’t think I give back as much as what the people at the Camp Nou give me, who support me so much. I am very grateful and happy to be in the club that I love and in which I grew up.”
Now, whether that changes between now and the end of the season remains to be seen, but the player is seemingly trying to distance himself about what is being written in the press about his future, amid all the reports about interest from the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
