On March 12th, Queens Park Rangers allowed Elijah Dixon-Bonner to join Västerås SK Fotboll on loan until this summer.

The second division Swedish club were able to sign the 24-year-old from QPR because the winter market in that country is open until tomorrow.

Martí Cifuentes didn’t seem to include the midfielder in his core plans at QPR this season. He played nine minutes from three Championship games and just over 200 minutes from three EFL Cup appearances for the London club.

The QPR owned player has had a chat with VLT in Sweden and Fotboll Direkt have relayed his comments.

Cifuentes spent more than 18 months at Swedish side Hammarby IF before leaving them for the English club in October 2023. Dixon-Bonner explained he had a chat with the QPR manager before going out on loan to Västerås SK, who were relegated from the top division last year.

The 24-year-old was also honest in admitting he didn’t know much about the club or the Swedish football before joining them.

“I talked a lot with the coach at QPR, Martí Cifuentes, who has been at Hammarby,” he said.

“Swedish football has great respect in England. Many people talk about the Swedish league. Then I didn’t know much about the second division, but I know that everyone talked about Västerås xG [Expected Goals] last season. The great football they played. So, it was a good opportunity for me to get playing time and express myself in a different environment.”

Dixon-Bonner made 33 appearances in all competitions for the English club since joining them in 2022.
