Nottingham Forest summer signing Jota Sila believes it’s time for him to return to the Portugal squad, but knows it depends on Roberto Martinez.
The winger has been speaking to Channel 11, relayed by Zero Zero, about his move to the Premier League this summer.
He joined Nottingham Forest in a €7m move from Vitória Guimarães, the first time the 25-year-old has left Portugal in his career.
The move to England is very much the biggest in his career to date after spending the last few years steadily making his way up the ranks in his homeland.
Silva made his debut for his country earlier this year in a friendly with Sweden and added another cap in the subsequent clash with Slovenia.
He’s been out of the picture since then, missing subsequent friendlies, Euro 2024, and the two sets of Nations League fixtures as well.
The Nottingham Forest forward is hoping that will change in the coming months, believing he should be a part of the group.
“Selection? It’s time to go back. God willing, we can return,” he said.
“That’s what I work for and will always work for. I know it’s a very difficult decision and it’s only up to the coach, we have a lot of players and it’s difficult. But yes, it’s time to go back.”
