Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Sacha Boey is being helped by Oliver Glasner’s relationship with Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund.

That’s according to BILD. They report that the two know each other from their time together at Red Bull Salzburg. And that will help the exchange over a potential deal for Boey.

According to the newspaper, Crystal Palace are interested in signing the right-back in January. Their interest has been reported throughout this week. Indeed, one report stated that Glasner had been in touch after Palace made a concrete offer.

BILD back that up, somewhat. They say such negotiations would make sense thanks to the relationship between Glasner and Freund. They previously worked together in Austria.

According to them, the general consensus is that Bayern would be happy to sell Boey. And a transfer in the January window ‘seems possible’ at that point. The German giants have even accepted they won’t get the €30m they paid for the Frenchman back.

A deal around €18m would, though, help get a significant portion of that fee back and make the sale more palatable. It’s up to Glasner and his friend, Freund, to work it out.
