Fulham and West Ham may be handed their chance to sign AZ Alkmaar striker Vangelis Pavlidis in the summer, with him looking to move on.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the striker is ‘planning a transfer’ in the summer.
He reports that the Greek forward, who has 24 goals in 28 league games this season, 28 in 40 in all competitions and 75 goals in 125 games for Alkmaar since joining them in July 2021, wants to depart the Eredivisie.
He’ll be given the option to do so too, with eight clubs ‘pushing for him’ at this moment in time and some of them coming from the Bundesliga.
Whether Fulham and West Ham are among those currently pushing isn’t mentioned, but they’ve both been credited with an interest over the last year.
West Ham were linked in the summer and had been expected to make a bid, while Fulham were credited with an interest in January after sending a scout to watch him play.
Of those two, West Ham would certainly make more sense as they’re lacking a striker beyond Michail Antonio. Fulham less so now that Rodrigo Muniz is one of the in-form strikers in the league.
If either are interested regardless, they can potentially get Pavlidis on the cheap with him currently valued at €15-18m as his contract is set to expire in 2025.
Whether that’s a price they’d consider worth it remains to be seen, but he’s considered ‘one to watch’ in the coming months.
