Kasper Dolberg moved to Anderlecht in 2023 on a permanent transfer, hoping that by going to a so-called lesser league he would be able to get his once very promising career back on track.
It’s worked so well he’s now being linked with Fulham.
The Dane moved to Ajax when he was just 17-years-old in 2015, joining the club youth set-up before making his way to the first team in Amsterdam. In the 2018/19 season he scored 12 goals for Ajax and Nice then paid more than €20m for him.
He got the same number of goals for Nice in his first season but after that things started to wobble. Following another struggle of a campaign in the 21/22 season, Dolberg was sent on what would prove to be a disastrous loan at Sevilla. That shouldn’t, the Spanish club seem to specialise in disastrous loans.
Dolberg quickly moved in the January window, on loan again to Hoffenheim but didn’t really get his mojo back until signing for Anderlecht. In his first season with the Belgian club he managed 15 goals and five assists, and this season the striker has scored 24 times.
After what has seemed like something of a rehabilitation period at Anderlecht, he’s expected to move this summer. Belgium’s DH Sports report England is increasingly looking like an option, and state: ‘Aside from Fulham—which also offers the advantage of being in London, as the lifestyle is very important to Dolberg and his family—there aren’t many options.’
Ajax is another possibility, and it’s made clear Dolberg wants to be a first choice, which is understandable give he turns 28 in October and will feel he’s had some missed years.
There no indication of what the transfer fee would be, or even any more about Fulham interest, although it’s taken as given that Dolberg will be on the move again.
