Fulham and Nottingham Forest are “preparing proposals” for İstanbul Başakşehir defender Jerome Opoku.

That’s according to Foot-Africa. They have quotes from ‘a source close to the player’s agency, Aquarius’ on the potential transfer.

A report last week, from Africa Foot, stated that Fulham were looking at the defender. He played for them previously but left, establishing himself in Portugal with Arouca and then Başakşehir in Türkiye.

Fulham have reportedly made note of his performances and would now like to bring him back to Craven Cottage. That same report stated Nottingham Forest were also in the mix, though.

According to it, Sean Dyche had personally recommended Opoku to Nottingham Forest’s board ahead of the January transfer window. That’s now been confirmed by Footy Africa’s source. They report that Fulham and Nottingham Forest are both preparing proposals.

“Jerome is flattered by Fulham’s interest,” they said.

“Returning to Craven Cottage would be a dream, he’s a boyhood kid. But Forest’s overtures have been serious too: discussions are already underway with Başakşehir.

“Sean Dyche personally pushed for him on the transfer committee. It’s not just talk, both clubs are preparing proposals.”

The interesting part here is that Africa Foot have picked up the story and run it too. They were the ones who initially broke the interest from Fulham and Nottingham Forest. And they seem happy to relay Footy Africa’s latest without question as well.

Whether either side makes a firm move, remains to be seen. But something is clearly building around Opoku and both Fulham and Nottingham Forest are in the middle of it.
