Sébastien Haller finished his first season in England with seven league goals at West Ham United.
His failure to have a meaningful impact at the London Stadium saw David Moyes wanting a new striker in the last window. The Hammers, however, failed to bring a new No.9 through the door.
Two days ago, the Daily Mail reported the Premier League side have been offered a chance to sign Real Madrid’s Mariano Díaz, initially on a loan deal, in the winter market.
It was also stated West Bromwich Albion wanted the 27-year-old in the summer, but he was unsure of moving to a newly promoted club. However, the Daily Mail states, joining Moyes’ side ‘carries more appeal’.
Spanish newspaper AS have relayed the claims made in England about West Ham links and also provide their own information on this case.
Benfica wanted to take Mariano on loan and had reached an agreement with the La Liga winners in the summer. However, the player wasn’t willing to leave Zinedine Zidane’s side.
The report adds, like last summer, the ‘last word’ will be for Mariano, meaning the striker will have the final say on a potential move to West Ham or any other club in January.
