Real Madrid assistant manager Davide Ancelotti is in contention to become Rangers’ next permanent manager and take over from Barry Ferguson.
On Tuesday, we covered claims from Spain which stated Rangers are best placed to appoint the Italian. It was also reported he and his camp feel the Ibrox project suits him the best.
Wednesday’s edition of El Mundo covers Rangers interest in the 35-year-old when they look at how his father and Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, agreed to take over the Brazil job.
Davide started as a fitness coach as part of his father’s backroom staff at Paris Saint-Germain in 2012. He had the same role when Carlo had his first spell with Los Blancos between 2013 and 2015.
The Rangers managerial target was promoted to an assistant manager when Carlo joined Bayern Munich in 2016. The same role continued at Napoli, Everton and now with Real Madrid.
The Spanish newspaper claims Davide could continue and join the Brazilian national team with his father.
If that were to happen, the former Everton manager will be living in Rio de Janeiro, close to the Brazil’s FA’s headquarters. Davide, on the other hand, would continue in Madrid and travel for international breaks.
Davide needs to decide whether to accept Rangers, or other clubs that have approached him, or accompany his father.
