Nottingham Forest winger Jota Silva could make a big move to Sporting Club de Portugal this summer, in a deal involved Viktor Gyökeres.
That’s according to Correio da Manha, who report that Sporting coach Rui Borges has expressed a desire to sign Silva and work with him again.
The newspaper reports that the interest in the Nottingham Forest man is real and could be facilitated if Gyökeres were to end up going the other way.
Forest are reportedly one of those interested in the Swedish striker and there is a possibility of using Jota Silva to lower Gyökeres’ asking price, which is currently €75m.
Borges has already admitted internally at Sporting that he would like to have Silva in his squad after working with him at Vitoria Guimarães. Silva has also expressed a desire to work with Borges again.
That means all the pieces are there to get a deal done, but it would likely depend on Forest’s valuation of Silva and whether Sporting would accept that. The Portuguese side want a big fee for Gyökeres and are unlikely to want it reduced too much.
It would also be very surprising to see the Swedish striker join Nottingham Forest, even if they were to qualify for the Champions League.
He’s been linked with the biggest clubs around Europe given his performances in Portugal and will likely have his sights set much higher than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, even with them so impressive in the Premier League this season.
We’d take this report with a hefty pinch of salt because of that. Or at least the part including Gyökeres anyway.
