There has been a lot of talk about the potential exit of Georgios Giakoumakis from Celtic in January, and it appears that France could be his destination.

That is, of course, if the bid made by Bordeaux, as reported by L’Equipe, is accepted by Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Ligue 2 side have ‘made an offer’ to Celtic for the 28-year-old, which is understood to be between €2.5-3m.

Having scored eight goals in 27 appearances, that seems a bit low for a player contracted until June 2026, but it seems Bordeaux are ready to try their luck at this stage, perhaps testing the waters.

Giakoumakis has made most of his appearances as a substitute under Postecoglou at Celtic this year, but did have a good spell in October, where he bagged four goals in three starts in the Scottish Premiership.

This is what Bordeaux will be hoping for if they use him regularly, but they will first need to have their bid accepted, which isn’t a guarantee just yet.
