Newcastle United are among host of clubs in the picture to sign PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo in the winter market.
This surprise claim is presented by Corriere dello Sport, who mention about the Magpies in a report discussing AC Milan’s interest in the forward.
It’s claimed the 23-year-old is ‘very popular’ with Newcastle United, the Serie A winners, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The Netherlands international has impressed for the Eredivisie side this season, scoring 13 goals and registering 17 assists in all competitions, and the Rossoneri officials have been following him since last summer.
The newspaper further states Gakpo is a ‘phenomenon’ and has been teasing Milan a lot.
Manchester United are also mentioned as they have bet on the Dutchman since the last transfer window.
Several claims in the English and the Dutch press have insisted the Red Devils want to sign the player.
Eddie Howe’s side are now thrown into the picture along with other clubs.
Gakpo is currently valued at €75m, which make it difficult for Milan to reach.
Newcastle, on the other hand, could be in a position to pay this fee, all depending on how much they want a player like him in the next transfer window.
