CA Talleres midfielder Matías Galarza has backed teammate Ramón Sosa fighting for a move to Nottingham Forest, insisting that the forward has ‘suffered’ in recent weeks.

Versus cover comments from the player today and his backing for the incoming Nottingham Forest signing after a tumultuous few weeks.

Sosa is on the verge of making the move to Nottingham Forest, having flown to England earlier this week to undergo a medical after Forest finally reached an agreement with Talleres for him.

That was the culmination in a dramatic transfer saga that had seen Nottingham Forest make a move for him, then seemingly drop out, before returning again.

A back and forth followed between the two clubs as Talleres held out for the best price possible, a stance that ended up frustrating Sosa as he had made it clear he wanted to make the move to England.

He eventually pushed through the move by refusing to play or be a part of Talleres’ squad, forcing their hand and getting the move to Nottingham Forest over the line.

Naturally his decision to do so hasn’t gone down well but Galarza has a different stance on the matter, coming out to back his teammate.

“The one who suffered the most was Ramón,” he said.

“Upon returning from the Copa América he was half down because he thought he was going to have more minutes, then he came with the mentality that he was going to be transferred, but it didn’t happen. He spent almost a month wondering whether he was going to leave or not.

“As a friend of his, I always came out to defend him. Luckily it was possible to sell him, it was the best for him and the club.

“Football is very unfair, one day everyone loves you and then you play two or three bad games, and no one loves you. It was the time because of Ramón’s age, he was the best player in Argentine soccer.”
