You’d be forgiven for thinking Liverpool have signed Florian Wirtz multiple times already now, or at least agreed the transfer on repeat occasions.

For over a week there’s been various new ways to announce the deal is done and that Wirtz will be swapping Bayer Leverkusen for the Premier League club.

This week’s edition of Sport Bild has their own take on it and they lead with the windfall the player’s parents are set to receive. The 22-year-old hasn’t been managed by an agency, but rather by his mum and dad. It was they who flew over to Blackpool with him, which was the start of the serious Liverpool road, and it’s they who have been negotiating on his behalf.

So, absolutely fairly, it is they who are getting the commission. On the player’s salary, Sport Bild believe this will amount to €10m over the period of his contract with the Reds.

As often, there’s been discrepancies with the reporting of the transfer fee. Sport Bild report Liverpool will pay a guaranteed €125m, plus a further €15m in easy bonuses and then a potential €10m in harder to achieve payments.

Those harder to achieve bonuses don’t sound improbable though, with Sport Bild stating: ‘Wirtz would have to win the Champions League with his new club and play a significant role in that.’

As reported elsewhere, it’s explained Wirtz’s medical will start on Friday but could roll into Saturday. All the paperwork has already been signed.
