Earlier on Wednesday, we covered an article from Zero Zero in Portugal backing up information from England that Leeds United had turned their attention to Pedro Martins.
The Portuguese manager is currently employed by Al Gharafa in Qatar, and is the latest in a long list of people the Elland Road club have approached to replace Jesse Marsch.
Failures in convincing Rayo Vallecano and Feyenoord to let Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot go have led Leeds to look elsewhere, and they came extremely close to appointing Alfred Schreuder.
That didn’t work out, however, and the search continues as Michael Skubala continues to be the interim in the meantime.
Now we have a second source in Portugal backing up the approach for Pedro Martins, as O Jogo state that Leeds ‘have already started exploratory contacts’ with the Portuguese manager, who took over at Al Gharafa last November.
However, the talks are still ‘at an early stage’, and the expectation is that those in charge of finding a new manager on Leeds’ board, such as Victor Orta, ‘will interview other candidates’ alongside Martins.
We’re not out of the woods just yet, it seems.
