Although Uruguayan striker Agustín Davila is having a trial period at Liverpool FC, the Reds have no agreement to sign the player immediately.
The information was revealed by Peñarol’s Youth Levels director and club treasurer, Mr. Rodolfo Catino.
In contact with Sport Witness, the official confirmed the 17-year-old will be training in England for two weeks, but it’s nothing but an experience for him.
“It’s just an evaluation, there’s no agreement”, Rodolfo Catino told Sport Witness.
Asked if Peñarol would accept to sell the player in case Liverpool show interest in keeping him, Catino made sure to say this is not an option: “At the moment, the player is non negotiable. He’s very young and still has a long way to go at the club”.
The director couldn’t say if the player has an European passport or not, which could be an issue to bring him to the Premier League.
Davila is still young, but his history with Peñarol goes back a long way.
He’s the grandson of Walkir Silva, a club striker who won the Copa Libertadores in 1982 and the International Cup in the same year, beating Aston Villa and scoring the second goal of the 2-0 victory in Japan.
