Earlier this week, it was pointed out by the Italian media that West Ham United were still very interested in signing Albert Gudmundsson.
The Hammers already wanted the forward during the January transfer window, and even made a move for him, only to be turned away by Genoa, who didn’t want to weaken themselves further after selling Radu Dragusin to Tottenham.
However, West Ham haven’t gone anywhere, and Calciomercato bring the Hammers into the mix once again as they give the latest details on the Iceland international.
They explain that his performances over the course of the season have made his price go up, which is why a move within Italy is getting more and more difficult.
The likes of Juventus and Inter Milan are now ‘further away’ than Premier League clubs in the race, as the likes of West Ham ‘have their sights set on him’.
It’s made clear that ‘everyone wants him’, meaning there will be a lot of competition for David Moyes’ team in the coming months, even if Genoa are open to a sale.
Any club that approaches them has been told ‘he can leave but only under our conditions’, which means paying them ‘handsomely’.
While his price was €30m a few days ago, the belief is that amount ‘will have to be revised upwards’ since so many clubs want him and he recently scored four goals in two games for his country.
In short, West Ham and any other Premier League club who wants Gudmundsson have the advantage over Serie A sides as things stand.
