Last month, there had been a lot of confidence in Paraguay that Julio Enciso would leave Libertad and sign for Brighton & Hove Albion.
With even his club’s president admitting there was a negotiation ongoing with the Seagulls, the move seemed like a matter of time, until it collapsed due to the lack of an agreement.
Enciso was back playing for Libertad last night, and ended up scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 win over 12 de Octubre. That was a quite big response for those who thought he could be affected by the failed move.
It turns out that when speaking to the local media after the game, the 18-year-old ended up being asked about the transfer to Brighton, and admitted how good it would have been for him.
“Every player always dreams of being transferred. It did not happen to me this time, but I will continue to work very hard at the club. I’m going to give everything to continue playing like this and help my team,” Enciso told Tigo Sports (via La Nacion).
Enciso is today highlighted by the Paraguayan press, who claim he’s ‘fired up’ after the failed move. The teenager continues to be one of the most talented young players in the country, and will certainly be surrounded by more approaches next summer.
Now we wait and see if Brighton will return for him.
