Fenerbahçe midfielder Fred is on Everton’s radar, with talks over a transfer potentially picking up pace in the coming days.
That’s according to Takvim, who report that Everton would be willing to pay a ‘large transfer fee’ for the 32-year-old midfielder.
They state that David Moyes has prioritised a deal for Fred as he looks to strengthen Everton’s midfield this summer. The Brazilian has been with the Turkish side since a €9.74m move from Manchester United in 2023.
They’re more than happy with his performances but are currently targeting a move for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma.
That could leave Fred surplus to requirements and Everton have now shown an interest in him. Fenerbahçe would want at least €18m for the midfielder. His current contract runs until 2027 so there is no pressing need to sell.
The belief, at least from Takvim, is that talks over a deal may gain momentum in the coming days. It’s debatable whether Everton would pay such a fee for a player of Fred’s age, though, particularly if they manage to tie Idrissa Gana Gueye to a new extended deal.
Perhaps its just Turkish optimism over the fee and the Blues have another plan in mind. Either way, the Brazilian is a name to keep an eye on in the coming days.
