Earlier today, we covered claims from Italy that Everton are edging towards completing a deal for Napoli’s Jesper Lindstrøm, and he’s scheduled to travel to England in the next few hours to carry out the transfer formalities.

Calciomercato provide a background on the work done by Everton to agree a deal to sign the 24-year-old.

Napoli took the attacking midfielder from Eintracht Frankfurt in August 2023. He managed nine goals and four assists in his final season in Germany but wasn’t able to replicate it in his debut season in Italy.

Lindstrøm clocked in 587 minutes from 29 games, failing to score a goal or register an assist for Napoli.

Calciomercato label him a flop, without taking into account that the Serie A struggled a lot last season. They somehow managed to turn a title win into chaos and that didn’t help new arrivals.

Napoli had three different managers last season, which may have made it more difficult for the Denmark international to adapt to the new league and country.

They’ve now decided to part ways with Lindstrøm and since no club is willing to buy him, they opened the door for a loan transfer. Everton are set to be his next destination.

It’s claimed Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis accepted the ‘final offer’ presented by the Toffees on Tuesday evening. Everton will pay €3m in loan fee with a buying option set at €22m.

If Everton were to make the Dane’s stay permanent, Napoli can recover the €25m fee they invested to buy him last year.
